Ferhat Ercan, of Highgate, and Salaman Ekinci, of Tottenham, were arrested outside the north London home of Arsenal star Mesut Ozil. The men allegedly became involved in an altercation with security staff outside the house, they were charged with a public order offense and were completely unrelated to the attempted car-jacking that took place last month.

India have asked the International Tennis Federation to shift their upcoming Davis Cup tie from Pakistan to a neutral venue due to the escalating political tensions between the two nations. The Indian team are scheduled to tour Islamabad for the Asia/Oceania Group 1 tie to be held on September 14 and 15. "We have asked ITF for a neutral venue," said the Indian administration.

The federal cabinet on Friday approved new constitution of the PCB with regional cricket being focus of the new structuring plan for domestic circuit. “[Finally] after 40 years, restructuring of cricket is done. Now, the focus will be on promoting regional cricket,” Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said after the cabinet meeting.

Keeping the focus on its policy of quality instead of quantity, PCB on Thursday reduced the number of central contract players from 33 to 19 with former captains Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik being notable exclusions. However, a significant increase in the monthly stipend ranging from 25 per cent to 40 per cent has been given for next 12 months to the selected players.

All owners of the six franchises of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) have agreed with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s plans to hold the fifth edition of the competition in 2020 in the country. But the biggest hurdle remains the availability of foreign players,who have to be convinced to stay in Pakistan for the entire duration of the league.

Neither club has made any public comments about the transfer fee but the current figure has been widely reported. He has signed a six-year deal with United after making 6 appearances for Leicester.

Nepalese mountaineer Nirmal Purja has set his sights on breaking the world record for climbing all 14 peaks above 8,000 metres. The previous record for this feat is eight years, but Mr Purja plans to achieve it in seven months. The 35-year-old is now three 8,000-metre peaks away from his goal.

Argentina’s Lionel Messi has been banned from international duty for three months and fined $50,000 after levelling accusations of “corruption” at the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL). After losing a controversial semi-final to Brazil in the Copa America tournament, the Argentinian Captain had claimed that the tournament was fixed in the favour of Brazil.

Argentina captain Lionel Messi has been banned from international football for three months after he claimed that the Copa America was corrupt.  The ban means Messi will miss Argentina's upcoming friendlies with Chile, Mexico, and Germany. He has seven days to appeal this decision and he has so far not revealed if he will do so.

The three main stakeholders of Pakistan cricket — head coach Mickey Arthur, chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq and captain Sarfraz Ahmed — appeared before the Pakistan Cricket Board’s cricket committee on Friday to express their views on performance during the last four years. The cricket committee will prepare its recommendations on the basis of these hearings and submit those to PCB chairman Ehsan Mani.
